Call for partnerships: Develop a voter’s guide on digital political influence

Tactical Tech is seeking partners to co-develop creative educational resources and organise interventions to contribute to our Voter’s Guide – a set of resources designed to promote citizens’ critical thinking about the use of their personal data by political groups to influence public opinion, elections, and other political participation.

To apply, please fill out the application form and submit your responses before 6th July 2022

Application Form via Lime Survey

The Voter’s Guide pack contents should be based on the extensive research conducted by Tactical Tech’s “Data and Politics Team” and partners from over 20 countries on how technology and personal data is used to influence political opinion. The resources available for this co-development process will be based on our current work available at:

www.influenceindustry.org

Tactical Tech aims to work with partners to ensure our research is approachable and relevant for citizens and public audiences across the world. Through the partnership, organisations will be able to engage with their audiences on how their political context - including the political advertising, information, or misinformation that they see - is informed by technology, personal data, and private companies.

We welcome proposals for interventions of various forms including:

  • workshops for citizens
  • social media campaigns
  • artistic and shareable content
  • translations or adaptions of our current materials for local contexts such as A Voter’s Guide or Your Data, Our Democracy
  • Or other proposals which can be outlined in the application

The partnership will run from July 2022 to the end of November 2022. Tactical Tech will provide a workshop in July to introduce our material to successful applicants, and for partners to coordinate their plans if appropriate.

How to Apply

We invite organisations such as libraries, NGOs, education organisations, and civil society campaign groups from across the world to apply with an outline of their proposal and a budget for expected costs up to 1500 Euros.

To apply, please fill out the application form and submit your responses before 6th July 2022 (old date - 20th June).

Tactical Tech will review all applications on a rolling basis, and invite successful applicants for interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email.

FAQs

What language(s) do I need for this partnership?

The partnership collaboration and coordination will be primarily in English but we encourage adaptions to any other language.

How will we connect and work together?

We will communicate via email and will meet virtually altogether using free calling tools such as BigBlueButton (B3) at regular agreed-upon dates and times

When will this project take place?

This project starts in July and will run until late 2022.

How much support will I receive as a local partner?

Partners will receive support up to 1500 Euros from Tactical Tech.

Please note that applicants must detail how the money will be used in the application round. This will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis based on feasibility of time frame and workshops during the COVID-19 restrictions. As this amount may not cover all of the costs associated with being a partner, we’re looking for partners who will not rely on this partnership as a sole source of funding and who have the resources and capacity to carry out the work.

Do we need to dedicate a full-time member of staff to this partnership?

This partnership should complement your existing programme and therefore should not require a dedicated member of staff. There will be regular check-ins when needed.
