We are looking for someone to enhance the information in our Influence Industry Explorer, an open-access database that compiles information about companies working with political parties and candidates on data-driven and digital campaigns. The researcher will examine the sources we have already collected to find and document the type of work conducted by the companies as well as the political parties they worked for. This research will require the ability to parse through large amounts of website text, co-develop a systematic approach for naming and categorising the data and an investigator’s curiosity for finding sometimes obscured information.
The existing data can be found by clicking on the companies here: https://influenceindustry.org/en/explorer/companies/
In order to apply, applicants must have:
- experience working with, or willingness to learn how to use, a content management system;
- interest in the topic of politics, elections and/or digital technology, such as currently studying a related subject;
- experience conducting research and categorising large amounts of information;
- have a stable and strong Internet connection;
- a few working hours overlapping 10:00 – 16:00 CET;
- availability to dedicate up to 40 hours to this project and complete this work before July 31, 2023.
For this role, we are able to offer:
- training on both the functionality of the CMS and the basic framework of our research;
- links and resources necessary to complete the work;
- support, guidance and collaboration during the research period;
- compensation up to 200 EUR/day with 8 hours a day expected for this work.
